WINNIPEG, Manitoba – November 10, 2010 – Winnipeg’s Global Wind Group Inc, has been nominated by The Canadian Innovation Exchange (CIX) as one of Canada’s Hottest Innovative Companies and is the only Manitoba-company to receive a nomination in the Clean Technology category.

Global Wind Group Inc. is a designer and manufacturer of vertical axis wind turbines and technology associated with wind energy. It recently signed a major foreign manufacturing, marketing and distribution agreement with TIM Engineering Technologies Ltd. of India. Global Wind Group has designed its proprietary ZüS^TM Modular Power Systems, which are rugged stand-alone, turnkey wind turbines perfectly suited to deliver reliable power in remote settings.

John Fjeldsted joins the Global Wind Group Team as CEO

Winnipeg, September 22, 2010 - Poised to open new international markets for its vertical-axis wind turbines, Global Wind Group Inc. has hired John Fjeldsted as its President and CEO to oversee the company’s expansion. Fjeldsted’s appointment is an important step in the company’s growth as a designer, manufacturer and distributor of renewable energy producing wind turbines around the world.

“The world is at a tipping point in terms of demand for renewable energy,” said Fjeldsted. “Emerging economies around the globe are looking for solutions that can deliver energy reliably and at a low cost. Global Wind Group’s small and sturdy wind turbines are a perfect fit to help power many emerging nations into the next century.”

Fjeldsted is currently the Executive Director of the Manitoba Environmental Industries Association (MEIA), a post that he will retain part-time for the short-term as he takes up his new role with Global Wind Group. Prior to MEIA, he was with Manitoba Hydro for 35 years where he helped develop and deliver environmental management systems.

Diesel has been used as a source of energy for many many years. Up until recently Diesel electricity has been one of the easiest and least expensive options. The view of diesel changed during the last oil price spike when suddenly electricity from diesel was significantly more expensive. Despite the current ‘low’ in diesel prices (approximately $80/bbl when this article was written), the days of cheap oil are past.
