Global Wind Group Inc. is pleased to announce the unveiling of the first vertical axis wind turbine installed in Manitoba at the University of Manitoba, Alternative Village. Alternative Village exists to provide the opportunity for researchers, students, practitioners, industry and the public to share ideas and learn about the choices regarding energy and building strategies outside the current conventionally available options.

Three new roof-mounted, vertical-axis wind turbines on the Morris Municipal Public Service Garage. The installation is the first of its kind in the Province of Manitoba and will generate enough energy to power the building’s geothermal heat exchange pumps, effectively giving the building a carbon footprint of almost zero.
